Schnurmacher Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is a leading not-for-profit 200-bed skilled nursing facility located in White Plains, NY – with easy access to public transportation. Schnurmacher has been serving the Westchester community for over 35 years. We provide all the options needed to continue healing, including physical and occupational therapy; speech, language and swallowing therapy; wound care; orthopaedic care; neurological care and pulmonary care. We have five resident floors, with separate floors designated for our patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia, as well as those in short-term rehabilitation.

An extensive music therapy program through a partnership with CenterLight Health System’s world-renowned Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) that offers patients clinical music therapy techniques to meet rehabilitation goals. We also have drumming circles, jazz improvisation, bell chime groups and resident choirs.
A Center of Excellence Wound Care Program that features a team of doctors, nurses, dieticians, social workers and rehabilitation therapists managed by a certified wound care nurse. Our staff receives comprehensive training based on the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Board’s standards, and is well equipped to handle all types of acute and chronic wounds using state-of-the-art technology and products.
Respite Services that allow those responsible for the care of a loved one to go on vacation or take time off by being a “home away from home,” taking care of all medical, nursing, rehabilitation and recreational needs.
In addition, Schnurmacher has been accepted by the Federal Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to participate in the Safety and Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). A facility must show exemplary employee safety and health practices to be accepted in this program.
Through a clinical alliance, Schnurmacher Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing and the renowned Burke Rehabilitation Hospital collaborate to provide unparalleled rehabilitative care, including specialized orthopaedic and neurological programs as well as a full range of expert clinical and patient management services.
Due to this, our average short-term rehabilitation stay is 21 days.
